About Lheritier

Lheritier is a house of formulation, situated in Nairobi, working with botanicals drawn from across East Africa — neroli, brahmi, cajeput, moringa, turmeric, kukui, chamomile, sandalwood, ylang ylang, patchouli, nutmeg, and others gathered as much for their character as their conduct upon the skin.

We confess no eagerness to be everything to everyone. We should much rather be precisely right for someone of particular discernment, than agreeably adequate to all.

Our Approach

Formulation, as we understand it, bears closer resemblance to composition than to manufacture. Every preparation begins with an ingredient worth building a sentence around — a botanical of distinct character, often difficult to procure, occasionally so rare that a single season’s harvest must serve an entire year’s acquaintance.

We work in small batches, not from constraint, but from principle: it keeps every formulation answerable to the person who uses it, rather than to a calendar.

What We Decline

Parabens, synthetic preservatives, and additives included for mere convenience have no place within our formulations. We do not test upon animals — only, as we have said, upon ourselves and the small circle of clients who have trusted this house since its earliest days.

We do not consider these matters worth a headline. They are simply the foundation upon which everything else is built.

Of Those We Serve

Lheritier formulates for individuals, for families, and for those distinguished houses of hospitality whose own standards permit no compromise. Each acquaintance is afforded the same degree of care, whether it begins with a single bottle or a standing arrangement.

Beyond the Counter

A portion of what Lheritier earns sustains the vulnerable in our society. We have never thought this worth announcing. We have simply continued it.
